Update on Pond Water Levels and Fish Loss
October 4, 2024
We’ve received several reports from residents about the pond and want to thank you for your awareness and dedication to the aquatic habitat. Late last week, a pump in the well that helps maintain the pond’s water level broke down, and inadvertently drained most of the water from one pond into another. Unfortunately, this caused the water level to drop too low, leading to a fish kill event. The pump was repaired and the pond refilled. The VMMD's onsite team skimmed the pond to remove the dead fish. In addition, we promptly reported the incident to the Texas Parks & Wildlife and the City of Arlington, as required.
The HOA, City, and MUD are actively working together to find solutions to prevent this from happening again. We’ve also worked with the City of Arlington Environmental Services to test the water, confirming that no harmful pollutants were present. The small amount of chlorine detected is normal for areas with nearby pools and irrigation systems.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we address the issue.
